Brenda L. Anderson-Powers, LSW is a Director of Transformation at the national non-profit, Alia Innovations. Team Alia are UnSysteming the child welfare system and shifting mindsets and practice to keep children safely with, not from, their families. Alia employs a community co-design approach, working alongside parents with lived expertise and innovative systems leaders as partners to co-create new solutions to longstanding problems, while supporting the wellbeing of leaders, teams, and caregivers. Brenda previously spent 26 years in direct service of child welfare, permanency and intensive permanency services.
Brenda is a recognized leader in Minnesota through the McKnight Foundation as a Virginia McKnight Binger Unsung Hero Recipient. Brenda's passion and work is centered around keeping children with their families and preventing the re-traumatization of children and families in the system.
