Biography

The focus of my practice is working with children 1-18 years of age in foster care or that have been adopted and/or trauma focused treatment with children and their families. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), the ARC model (Attachment, Regulation and Competency), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), sand tray therapy and Polyvagal theory and am currently in training for Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).

Biography

Amy Hagstrom, PsyD, LP has over 15 years of experience working with children, families and adults around issues of trauma. Her specialties include psychological assessment, play therapy, and EEG biofeedback/neurofeedback. She works with preschool and school age children as as foster, adoptive and biological families, especially with children in transition. She has experience supervising an adolescent sexual abuse program for survivors and perpetrators of sexual abuse. She currently is in private practice in Edina and at Northland Counseling Chaska.

He holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota, where he was recognized as both a Child Welfare Scholar and a Minnesota DHS Fellow.

As a Board-Certified Art Therapist and Anchor Relational (formerly AIR Network) trained therapist, and I incorporate Developmental, Intersectional, and Trauma-focused lens into my practice. I believe safety, trust, honesty, creativity, and humor are essential elements in a therapeutic relationship. I utilize a client-centered and relational approach to therapy, weaving psychoeducation with introspection and self-reflection. I am an Adoption and Child Foster Care licensing social worker in a county setting. I have worked in the Children's Services unit for 10 year, but the last seven focusing on licensing and adoption. I also provide some Child Protection Case Management services. I work on a variety of cases from reunification to post TPR to finalizing an adoption. Along with this, I license and case manage our traditional and corporate child foster homes in our county.
