My focus of practice is early childhood, particularly working with children who have experienced trauma or have disabilities. I am passionate about supporting kids with symptoms of Autism and providing them with the tools and care they need to thrive. My approach is centered on creating a nurturing and understanding environment, where every child feels valued and understood. With a commitment to continuous learning and evidence-based practices, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of the children and families I work with.

I have had over 25 years of experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults through therapeutic foster care, adoption (of bi-racial child with disabilities), grief, trauma and loss therapy individually, couples and families. Most significant training and expertise in grief and trauma. Trauma Studies certificate from U of Minn. and a certified thanatologist. Mother of seven adults, grandmother of ten above average grandchildren, married 40+ years.

Biography

Patty Miller, LPCC is a one of the first therapists in Minnesota to work in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for children. She is employed at Northwood Children’s Services –PRTF in Duluth, MN. Patty has over 25 years of experience working with children and families. She also has a MA in Management and is a former CEO of a Children’s Advocacy Center. Patty has provided foster care to over 100 children and has advanced professional training in EMDR, Grief and Loss, Temperament Assessments and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I work in a mental health clinic focused on children and their families. My main focus in working with the child is meeting them where they are at in development and learning about their experience. I also strive to bring in the parents and family to share the experience together.

Biography

My name is Melissa and I have been working with children and families for over 15 years. I enjoy working with the whole family system and seeing changes happen to make the family function better. I value being able to go with the child and family on a healing journey whether that is finding answers or just having a safe space to ask questions. I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time with my own family and friends. I enjoy being outside, talking my dog for walks, reading, watching movies, traveling and going camping.

Biography

Tarah Groettum holds a Master of Science in Education (MSEd), with a clinical counseling focus. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Certified Autism Specialist (CAS), Permanency and Adoption Competency Certified (PACC), and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), Tarah brings a wealth of specialized training to her practice. She is also fully trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Our private practice specializes in working with families that has a member with hearing loss (Deaf, deaf or hard of hearing). I’m fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have worked with children and parents in the Deaf community for over 20 years.

Meagan Galbari, MA, LPCC has been working with children and families for over 25 years in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, day-treatment programs, domestic violence refuges, residential treatment centers and in private adoption agencies.  Meagan’s passion is in adoption and foster care and supporting children and families through their journey.  Meagan is committed to assisting parents through the lifelong process of adoption and empowering them with the tools to help children heal while maintaining healthy families.
