Katherine Dachtler is an international, Transracial Adoptee who was raised and lives in the upper Midwest. Katherine strives to meet you where you are and aims to uncover and focus on your strengths to empower you throughout your healing journey. She believes each individual has a unique, intersectional framework through which they experience the world. She specializes in working with Adoptees, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA2S+ communities and has worked with folx impacted by medical trauma, differing abilities, sexual assault/abuse, and domestic violence.

Since 2007 I’ve been working in the mental health field in a variety of roles which have enriched my clinical practice. I draw upon a strength based, resiliency building & collaborative style of therapy to empower families and individuals to find inner healing while providing tools to enhance their daily life functioning.

I utilize a client-centered and relational approach to therapy, weaving psychoeducation with introspection and self-reflection. I incorporate art therapy interventions, mindfulness techniques, and somatic and sensorimotor experiences within sessions.

My passion is attachment, relationships, and development and their impact on functioning throughout one’s life. I find encouragement in my work through helping others find hope, strength, and healing within their environment and relationships. I am also trained in Theraplay, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Circle of Security-Parenting.

I am an adoptive parent myself and with adoption in my family of origin.
