Michele Lovehaug received her bachelor of arts degree from Concordia College in 1997 in both social work and Spanish. She went on to complete her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota in 1999. Ms. Lovehaug is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in both North Dakota and Minnesota. She is also a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) currently practicing as a Clinical Services Manager at Fraser’s collaboration with Minneapolis Public Schools. I manage two day treatment classrooms, supervise staff and maintain an outpatient caseload. Fraser is one of the largest providers for mental health services in Minnesota (children and adults) and recently became a CCBHC (Certified Community Behavior Health Clinic).
I am dedicated to working with individuals and families by supporting hope and growth through a family systems perspective and trauma informed care. As a counselor, I focus on wellness and what we can do to help you feel hopeful as we begin to change your story. My work stems from an attachment, developmental, and systems lens and how they impact functioning throughout one’s life. Julie Jong Koch, MSW, LICSW, is a licensed independent clinical social worker and psychotherapist at Watercourse Counseling Center in Minneapolis. She specializes in working with transracial adoptees, POCI (People of color/Indigenous people), queer & trans individuals, as well as others who have experienced individual or community trauma or marginalization. She integrates her professional training and therapeutic skills with her lived experience as a queer-identified Korean adoptee.
I founded my practice with a passion to provide the best possible services to individuals and families who have been touched by adoption in some way. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, which means I value the role that relationships play in mental health functioning and healing. I include family work as a routine part of the therapy process. As an adoptive parent, I am sensitive to the unique needs that adoption presents. I work from an attachment perspective, meaning that healing can often be found through enhancing relationships and security.

The focus of my practice is working with children 1-18 years of age in foster care or that have been adopted and/or trauma focused treatment with children and their families. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), the ARC model (Attachment, Regulation and Competency), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), sand tray therapy and Polyvagal theory and am currently in training for Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).

Our private practice specializes in working with families that has a member with hearing loss (Deaf, deaf or hard of hearing). I’m fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have worked with children and parents in the Deaf community for over 20 years.
